I encourage requesting an absentee ballot. Then there is less of a chance for some unforeseen circumstances preventing you from voting on election day. I am aware that method has fallen under intense scrutiny lately.

Why I support and encourage absentee ballots and creating a national voting holiday

Options make voting easier and more accessible to everyone. Your freedom to vote is critical for open and fair elections. As is unrestricted access. Whether that is due to illness, travel, or physical restrictions, your ability to vote should never be impeded. That right should be as secure as any in person voting process. Idaho is proud of its long tradition of never interfering or restricting someone’s ability to vote. That is why we have never required any additional red tape to vote. Not in person or by mail.

Vote by mail is not a complete description. You are allowed to take your ballot directly to a secure drop box where it is collected and protected until the counting on election night. Idaho has a proven track record of near zero misrepresented ballots thanks to volunteers that live in your neighborhoods. The choice is always yours and will always be respected as long as we elect good people to keep it that way.
